In a world with over six billion individuals, crowded super cities and relentless pollution, there seems to be no place left on our planet where we are humbled by and in awe of the power of nature.

At the end of 2010, two Dutch friends Hans and Jacob will enter a breath-taking and dangerous world of ice and light – magnificent Antarctica.

There are few new challenges still to be claimed…the summit of Mt Everest is almost a tourist attraction and the Internet is full of expeditions and adventures. All very interesting and challenging, but most have been achieved or conquered already.

The dream of Hans and Jacob has something remarkably different to offer. Their quest has never been done successfully before - a journey by a wind-powered kite buggies.

Their route will see them combining kite bugging and man-hauling to reach their goal - the South Pole. Then to top off their challenge they will ascend the highest point on Antarctica, Mount Vinson standing 4893 metres.

They aim to travel completely unsupported for 3300 kilometres and if their expedition is successful they will gain a new world record.

To achieve this they must trust and totally depend on each other’s strengths and courage. Their knowledge and training will be pushed to the limits on the highest, driest, windiest and coldest place on Earth.

If not, Antarctica will find and expose the slightest crack in their defences and destroy not only their dreams but also their lives.

In a commissioned real-life documentary series, set for broadcast in early 2011 with the National Geographic Channel - we will follow the two friends’ amazing journey from their home to the last true great wilderness.

The broadcast will co-inside with the 100th anniversary of the legendary journey of Scott and Amundsen’s first “successful” expedition to the South Pole.
