Camera Courses

This 3 or 5-day course is designed to allow a complete novice to be able to shoot independently something that is of broadcast quality. Using a selection of small DV-Cam and the new HDV formats.

The courses will cover the following:

• Framing, from the rule of thirds to breathing space
• Optics, from shutter speed to F-stop
• How cameras work
• Camera choice
• Camera care
• Managing tapes
• Powering up
• Understanding all the never ending menus and buttons
• How to set up interviews
• Using tripods and hand-held techniques
• How to film action, group dialogs and allowing the shot to breathe
• Working with audio
• A basic look at three point lighting
• Safety and the law
• Filming permits, copyright and release
• A look at the hostile environment course
• Developing a work flow
• Putting it all into practice

This is course is very practical with real hands-on experience.
