Hostile Environment Filming Course…. Preventing You from becoming the Story!

Based on years of first hand experience, this extensive one week course will train the basic skills necessary for film and TV crews to work in some of the most challenging and difficult situations possible.

Not only natural hazards, such as extreme weather to earthquakes, but politically sensitive issues like hi-jacking and dealing with corrupt authorities. As well as survival strategies if things do get seriously out of hand!

The course is particularly geared up for all production staff from camera operators to sound engineers as well as directors, production assistance and producers.

Basically, anyone that works outside a TV studio!

The courses will cover the following:

  • How to research and plan - The key to safe and successful filming
  • Logistics, insurance, fixers and permits
  • Adaptive filming techniques for polar, deserts, jungle, sea and mountain environments
  • Filming in the urban environment
  • Dealing with authority, censorship and religious and cultural restrictions
  • Hi-jacking, car jacking, piracy, kidnap, hostage taking and corrupt authority
  • Civil unrest and war zones
  • Dealing with poverty and diseases
  • Film production and personal equipment selection. Plus keeping it and you safe and dry
  • Transportation, looking at safe use of land, sea and air vehicles.
  • First aid and navigation
  • Survival strategies for polar, deserts, jungle, sea and mountain environments if thing do go wrong
  • Dealing with extreme weather and natural disasters
